CONCERTS:
Our Maasai folk music presentations consist of an introduction to
the Maasai and Kenya. Brief narratives accompanied song and dance
performances, and a question and answer session may last between
30 to 45 minutes.
Most concerts and workshops have successfully been held in host
school gymnasiums. Performances for the general public have been
on stage in theaters. Our members also have a presentation intended
for Church, and participation in song and dance is open to all who
wish to take part.
Each presentation is tailored to meeting the expectations of different
age groups.
WORKSHOPS:
Our dance troupe members are also skilled in bead-making, Batik
art, hair-braiding, storytelling, song dance routine.
*Details regarding the schedule, location and supplies are determined
when contract is concluded.
BATIK ART WORKSHOPS.
Our Batik Art workshop introduces to participants the
technique of alternatively applying hot wax and cold water fabric
dye to cloth to create beautiful art works.
BEAD WORK.
Dance troupe members will also impart Maasai bead-making skills
to bead work participants of all ages. We will recommend different
size beads to different age-group. This is especially so with
workshops for children.
HAIR BRAIDING
Members of the friends of Sironka dance troupe will braid participant’s
hair using the style that Maasai warriors braid their hair today
and share the knowledge of this unique style of hair braiding
